Defining Variables Operational
Variables are defined as the factors in an experiment that can change. When we define variables operationally it lets other scientists to know what the dependent variable is and how it is measured and how the independent variable is manipulated. The definition of the dependent variables are quantitatively written such as length, time, distance, temperature. There are many ways to define variables but it is up to the scientist to decide how to measure them.
Helpful tips to Define Variables Operationally
- Definitions must be be clear in order for the experiment to be repeated.
- Be sure to choose the best method of measurement so it produces the best data set for what is being measured.
- Consider all the different methods of measurement because it is up to you as the scientist to have a successful experiment.
